New Year, New Me

Well, I've been contemplating doing this for a while, and with the urging of my wonderful sister I've decided to spend 2008 doing something I love to do: taking pictures and writing. After, she saw another photographer do a year in pictures, she suggested that I give it a try since I love photography. So, here goes. I'll do my best to make it interesting and hopefully I'll learn something new along the way.

I've very excited about 2008. For starters, anyone who knows me knows that I love even numbered years (I seem to have better luck). Secondly, I'm in a really happy place in my life right now. I have the best relationships I've ever had with my family and friends, I have a great job doing something I love and making a difference, and I am just really happy being me. I've decided to set goals for myself for the year. One of those goals is to do something new. This is new, so that is one goal I am working on. I'll let you know more goals later.

January 1, 2008

This is actually a picture that I took August 12, 2006. When I took the picture it was a lot smaller and in color. Thanks to my mom, she photoshopped it to look like this, but I took the picture. Now I tell you that, to tell you this. I sent the picture to the Walmart photo center so that I can put it in a scrapbook I am making for my sister, but they wouldn't give it to me because they believe it belongs to a professional photographer and I need a letter saying it's ok to give it to me. I explained that I had taken the picture, but they still refused and said that if I did take it I need to bring in the memory card with it on it or a copy of the negative. I'm flattered that they think it was professionally made, but at the same time quite irritated that I've already paid for the picture and they won't give it to me unless I go through all of that trouble of finding the negative to get it back. I also chose to put this picture up because I found out that my cousin got engaged on New Year's Eve and is getting married at the same church my sister did on February 2nd. I'm so excited for her!

January 2, 2008

Because I was so bored on the 1st, I decided it was time to get my butt in gear and go to school to work on my room for a while. Plus, I needed to get my mind off of something so staying busy helps. That's why I put up the picture of the Christmas tree and the fireplace. That was my reading corner for the month of December and all of it came down. The picture of the phone was taken because I have done nothing but look at the stupid thing all of the break, either because the battery is going dead or because I'm hoping it will ring.

January 3, 2008
Today was more of the same. I went to school and worked on my room some more. I got a lot of work done. The pic for the day is me with my new glasses! I'm very excited to have them, even though you probably won't see me in them a lot, but it's still fun to be able to see when you need to. I think they make me look smart too. I'm digging my curly hair too. That's really just me being lazy and not wanting to straighten it.
