Colorado

Hey guys! I know it's been about 3 weeks since I've posted. After I got back from Colorado, I got super busy getting my room ready at school and going to in-services. So, here is my update. It's long but bear with it. I love the pics I have. And I love you guys!

Saturday, July 12. We left for Colorado today. This is Jasper, Jr. For those who don't know the story, I LOVE the Travelocity Traveling Gnome. When I went to Cali a few years ago we took a bigger version. I wanted to bring him along again and found a mini version. So he will be in a couple of pics you see. He liked the tray on the airplane.View from the plane!
Sunday, July 13. We went to Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park today.
Me and Jasper, Jr. on our way to Estes Park. He was excited.Super Cool Rock on the way in.
When we first got into the park we found this rock and decided to climb up. I did it in my flip flops.
View from some other rocks in the park.

This really nice guy from LA took our picture for us while we were sitting on the rocks of death as I like to call them cause it was just a big drop off where we were sitting.

Yes, it looks like a painting, but it is really the view in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Also known as God's Country.
Stephanie, Julie, and me at one of the stops through the Park. Julie's hair loved my face.
At the half way point through the park, they have a gift shop, rest area, restaurant thing. Beside it they have this gianormous hill you can climb that we thought we should do. Don't you think it looks like the Great Wall of China? It was a steep climb and I thought my lungs would collapse from breathing in all the super cold air.But when we got to the top it was all worth it because we got to take this cool picture with the sign saying that we were 2.3 miles above sea level. Jasper, Jr. is sitting on the sign.
We saw a lot of elk during our drive through the park. I was actually pretty close to these. I like to call this picture "You talkin' to me?"

Jasper, Jr. sitting on tip of the sign for the Continental Divide. He's cool. After we came back from the Rocky Mountain National Park, we stopped back in Estes Park and visited the Stanley Hotel, the hotel that inspired Stephen King's "The Shining." It was built by the guy who started Stanley Steamer in 1909. Such a gorgeous place! They even had the original elevator. Very pretty. And gorgeous staircases. When we started our trek back to Westminster, we passed by Jellystone Park. We HAD to get a picture with Yogi!My new hat I got today. I am now a park ranger!

Monday, July 14. We made a trip to Boulder today. It was such a cute place! Jasper, Jr. even enjoyed the scenerary while we ate.

Eating at Boulder Cafe'. A nice little local eatery in Boulder Pearl Street Mall.
The inside of Hotel Boulderado. Another historic hotel in Colorado built in 1909. Very cool. Let's just say that water is COLD!!!!Hotel BoulderadoWe were supposed to see the Foo Fighters play at Red Rocks ampitheater, but unfortunately Dave Grohl was sick or something. So we drove out anyways to see it and it was AMAZING!!!! This is called Creation rock. Can't you hear to opening scene music from the Lion King right now?Red Rocks Ampitheater. And we went to the visitor's center and they had this little miner's hat. I wanted to buy it but restrained myself from doing so. I didn't want to look too weird at the airport with all of my new hats. After we left Red Rocks, we tried to find Dinosaur Ridge, which is a place where you can see fossils and footprints of dinosaurs. We were told that we would be able to see the stuff even though that visitor's center was closing, but when we got there we only were able to see these painted Stegasaurus' before the mean old man came and ran us off cause he was closing.Tuesday, July 15. A gorgeous sunset in Colorado. We ate at this little diner a few miles from our hotel. It was like an old Shoney's turned into the diner. And they had this cute ride that Jasper, Jr. just had to sit on.Wednesday, July 16. I spent the day at the Denver airport with Julie while we directed girls who were coming to convention to the right place to get on the shuttles to the hotel. This is a really cool water fountain thing that they have in the middle of the terminal.
This is what I got to do. I was an official sign holder.Thursday, July 17. Nicki and I decided to take the public transportation to Downtown and visit the Denver Zoo and the state capitol. We were also lucky to see this while we were waiting on a bus to get us.This peacock was a poser. Literally. He liked the attention and gave us this great shot. This is an Okapi. It's a relative of a giraffe. Very weird looking animal. The Denver Zoo is definitely the best zoo I've evern been to. It has just about every animal A to Z.
This one's for Heidi and Ellie. So cute!A gorgeous church in downtown near the Capitol.Statue at the Capitol buildingReally cool elevator in the Capitol building. Each panel had a different thing on it. A buffalo, a covered wagon, a wheel, etc. I couldn't get a really good picture of it cause the lighting was really weird. Sitting on the original marked step that says you are One Mile Above Sea Level.

So here's a little history lesson for you. If you look closely at this picture you will notice the gold circle on the step at the bottom of the picture, a step with the words on it, and then another step with a gold circle on it at the top of the picture. The step that says "One Mile Above Sea Level" is the original mark. Then they re-surveyed it and the step at the top of the picture with the gold circle was determined to be one mile above sea-level. Then the gold circle on the step at the bottom of the picture was surveyed to be the actual one mile above sea-level.

The Capitol BuildingA view of downtown Denver from a parking lot near our hotel.Friday, July 18. We went to a Colorado Rockies game. They had these cute cut outs for us to stick our faces in.Best friends at a ballgame. Super fun!
Jasper, Jr. wanted his picture with the field in the back ground. Yes, we had super awesome seats! This is the wonderful group of girls who went to the ball game. It was so much fun! They put our name on the big screen! The finger says it allThey won!!! It was a great game! When the game was over we had time before our bus left and we walked down to the 16th Street mall in Downtown Denver. I had to take my picture with the buffalo.A beautiful clock tower on 16th Street.Saturday, July 19. We did a service project at the MaxFund in Downtown Denver. It's a no kill animal shelter. Our bus driver decided while we were there that he and his wife needed to adopt this cutie pie. He was so sweet!
This is Gracie. A sweet doggie at the animal shelter. She has to have rehab for her back legs because one of them is paralyzed. She was soooo cute! I just love her. She made me cry.Downtown Denver. Gorgeous! The inside of the building we had our banquet in.Julie and me sitting at the table for banquet.Nicki and me sitting at the table. The centerpiece for the tables were old record album covers with records sitting on top with a candle in the middle. Then we had place cards(the stars). Anyways, I like this picture.

Julie was so sweet. She got the three of us these rose rings. They are so pretty.
